How do I select what drill bit to use for my project? Century offers four types of drill bits; Brite, Heavy Duty, Charger and Cobalt. Depending on the material to be drilled and the tool you are using, will determine what drill bit you use. For instance: Brite drill bits are mainly used in wood, metals and plastics. This drill bit is very economical, the 118° point requires you to use a center punch to prevent "walking" or "wandering". This drill bit can be used in any portable drill or drill press. Heavy Duty drill bits are designed to remain sharper longer by withstanding high temperatures. We recommend using this drill bit in metal drilling applications, however it can be used in wood and plastics. The 135° Quick-Cut Point is self-centering, no center punching is required. This drill bit can be used in any portable drill or drill press.Charger Advanced Helix Geometry starts at the 135° Quick Cut Point, modified to be self-feeding and require less force from the user. The unique flute design allows for fast chip removal, ensuring the cutting point remains cool, reducing wear for a longer cutting life. Industrial heavy duty web provides added stability and strength for exact holes while drilling in the hard and very soft materials. Cobalt drill bits are for drilling in extremely hard metals including stainless steel. The 135° Quick-Cut Point, eliminates "walking" or "wandering". For maximum efficiency use in a power unit that operates at speeds of 1,500 RPM's or faster. What can the Decter Drill Attachment do? The Decter drill attachment converts any cordless or electric drill, with a standard chuck, into a power screw gun. This attachment saves you the money from having to purchase a separate tool to get the job done. The number one use for the Decter is for installing drywall, but is also very efficient in decking applications. The Decter will set the screw to the perfect depth every time. I was removing a bolt with a screw extractor, in the process of removing the bolt, the extractor broke off, what do I do now? In a situation like this, you want to drill out the broken extractor first. However instead of using a regular drill bit, we would suggest using a left handed drill bit. A left hand drill bit will drill out the broken extractor, without further tightening the bolt or enlarging the hole further. Choose the appropriate size left hand drill as listed on the extractor's package. Once you have drilled out the extractor, attempt to extract the bolt again with a new extractor. Is it really necessary to use cutting oil every time I use my drill bit? No, cutting oil will extend the drill life while drilling in all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. While drilling in wood, plastics or other soft materials, cutting oils may stain or harm the cutting materials. What is Century's "Guaranteed Satisfaction" policy? Century's product will perform to your satisfaction or be replaced at no charge from the place of purchase. How do I get a Century Drill & Tool Co. product catalog?
