Century carries the product mix to effectively set up to 42 linear retail feet of branded Power Tool Accessories and Hand Tools without a duplicate SKU. More importantly, our customers consistently report that they yield higher margins on Century than they traditionally had realized from other brands and categories. Since 1940, Century’s singular focus on Power Tool Accessories and Hand Tools has made us experts in supplying and managing these categories for the independent hardware market and automotive aftermarket. This expertise together with our newly redesigned, award winning and distinctive blue packaging are what we like to refer to as “The Power of the Blue Wall”. The "Power" is the result of product, program and dedicated service perfection developed over the past 70 years.
In 2009, we completed a brand redesign that included several new packaging features to help consumers and store personnel navigate the relatively SKU intense Power Tool Accessory category. These features include color coding by quality grade, a life rating on each drill bit offering, clear material icons to designate intended applications and added feature references that deliver key messages of differentiation. Together with full racking, POS and other merchandising support, Century’s goal is to help make the category easy to shop. Further, Century has created many vehicles for semi-permanent secondary placements to drive impulse purchases (e.g., “fish bowl” items, counter boxes, crate programs, etc.). In an expanded effort to provide product training for our retail customers in 2010, Century will be releasing a customer portal to be accessed via our website. This portal will offer product literature and advertising materials intended to improve the in-store performance of the category. |
